Optimizing Vista with Vista4expert

... or just make Vista more bearable.

Microsoft Vista has been designed taking into account the fact that computers are now more powerful, have more memory and can support advanced features such as indexing of files and 3D animation.
Yet some computers as "low-end" come with Vista as their material resources are sometimes too fair to use it comfortably.

Similarly, the assumption of security in Vista is very interactive: from an application requires elevated privileges to run, a confirmation is requested from the user. It can become very boring over time.

There is a small software called Vista4Expert which will disable certain features of Vista to make it more comfortable, but the disabling of one or the other component should be done with caution so as not to undermine security system for the benefit of comfort.

Installation and preliminary Vista4Expert

Download Vista4Expert here : http://ntcore.com/vista4experts.php and run the application. When the window appears, just right-click on the lines then choose Disable all actions.

It is better to assume that nothing is done to select actions to execute an order not to disable an important feature of Vista by accident.
Review the actions open to us:

Actions and their usefulness Vista4Expert

"Disable the Security Center notification ....." Used to disable notifications from Security Center, that is to say that if your firewall is disabled (for example), there will be the bubble that says "Check the status of your front fire "to see you if you prefer to be informed (e) or not ...
"Disable the user account control (UAC)" to you. The UAC is the system that sends messages to allow an application to run with elevated privileges. The UAC is useful to prevent a malicious program to execute dangerous actions, so do check this line if you know what you do.
"Disable Windows Defender's Daily Automatic Scan" Not unless you know what you do.
"Disable the file indexing service ...." The index file uses resources unnecessarily, unless you use this feature, you should check the line.
"When searching non-indexed locations, include system directories" box;
"Swith to the classic view of the control panel" To you, it is a matter of taste.
"Always show the menu of Windows Explorer" same here
"Show even file extension for known file" box with no remorse. Some malware exploit worship ignorance of the user on the file extension ...
"Disable Balloon Tips Disable tooltips.
"Always show the menu of Internet Explorer" Can you see ... matter of taste.
"Set as google or live internet explorer home page" above.
"Add to google the internet explorer search bar above.
"Msdn Add to the internet explorer search bar" may be useful for some software developers.
"Set msdn or google as Internet Explorer's default search" You will probably say that I am repeating myself but ... matter of taste.
"Check for windows updates but let the user choose whether to download or install them ..." It is best not to tick this box, leave all the updates install automatically.
"Turn off the automatic updates for windows" Do not check this box unless you know what you do.
"Disable Aero" Aero is the 3D graphics windows. It obviously consumes resources that could be used by other processes. You see, if you check this line, you will gain in performance.
"Reduce the service termination timeout to 5000 ms" It is better not tick this box unless you know what you do.
"Disable the windows sidebar" If you are tired of the bar on the right side with the weather etc ... You can disable it.
"The start menu power button will shut down the system" When you go to the Start menu and you click the power button (red button), the system will pause rather than stop as in previous versions of Windows. If you check this line by clicking this button, the system will stop instead of pause.
"Disable superFetch" Do not check unless you know what you do ....
