[Google Reader] Managing your RSS feeds
To access the settings for Google Reader and the options for management of the RSS feeds, click on "Manage my subscriptions" on the bottom edge of the navigation panel. A new window will open.
You can see all the Feeds, on which you are enrolled in the "Subscriptions". The "Rename" option allows you to change the title of a news. To delete a subscription, simply click the recycle bin. To create a folder, click any button "Change Folder" or "Add to Folder" and click "New folder ..." from the menu.
To remove a subscription from a folder, click the button "Change Folder" and click on the name of the file to remove the checkmark. The procedure is the same, if you want to assign a file to an RSS feed.
Other options Google Reader are divided into four tabs:
- Preferences - here you choose the language of the interface and the page that should appear at the start of service. You can also show/ hide the navigation panel and select the method to mark an item as read.
- Tags - the names of existing files are listed here. You can change their status (public or private) or delete them.
- Extras - you will find two bookmarks to slide in the panel of Internet Explorer bookmarks (or bookmarks in Firefox). They facilitate the reading of articles and simplify the subscription to an RSS feed.
- Import/Export - the feed readers support a standard format called OPML. If you want to get Google Reader feeds from anotherreader (or vice versa), you can import (or export) OPML files here.
Note that:
Google Reader make use of Google Gears, a browser extension that lets online applications work offline. Users who have installed the extension can download up to 2000 items to be read offline and they connect again, Google Reader updates the feeds again.
