Scan files transferred in WLM with Avast






Windows Live Messenger allows you to transfer and receive files easily to your contacts. But how would you determine that the file you are about to download is safe and does not contain a virus?
To find out, you can configure WLM to use your antivirus software Avast, to scan files you received.
  • In WLM, click the Tools menu and then Options.
  • In the Options window, click the File Transfer


Then check the "detect viruses in files using:" and click [Browse] and get the executable that corresponds to Avast scan function, during the transfer.


For Avast the path that is often suggested: C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4 and select ashQuick.exe


Then click [apply] and [ok].

On transfer, you will see a window (stealth) for Avast! which shows that the scan tooking place.
