Creating a Boot disk on XP








A boot disk is a removable storage medium from which a computer can load the OS or utility program. .
You can need a boot disk for several reasons:
  • Installing the OS.
  • Data recovery.
  • Data purging.
  • Hardware or software troubleshooting.




To create a DOS startup disk (boot disk) on Windows XP:

  • Go to My Computer
  • Right-click the floppy drive and then select "Format".
  • A new option is now available to create a DOS boot diskette.
