The different modes

Spybot can operate in two modes:

The "easy way" this is the default mode. Simple to use but some functions are very handy, even essential, are not available.
The "advanced mode" which is a bit (but then really just a little) more complicated to "take control", but with which you can do a lot more things (and therefore possibly damage Windows).

I advise you therefore advanced mode, unless you are a beginner in this case then choose the easy mode.
Updates
Like other softwares, Spybot must be updated.
IMPORTANT:
This article is based on version 1.4.
Some information is not valid for earlier versions.
It is essential to perform this update (via the appropriate function in the program) before making any search and spyware removal and if you have an earlier version, update using the following link above. Then download Spybot and install it in the same folder as the old version (if you do not let the "default"). This will replace the old with the new version.
Removing the Spywares
Once updated, run Spybot and choose to search for spyware.
If Spybot finds spywares, choose to delete them (anyway, if there were a problem, Spybot makes backups, so you can restore one or more spyware)
Program at start


There is also an attractive option in Spybot which not only disable, but to delete a registry key for the automatic start of a program to launch Windows (msconfig Windows only allows you to disable but not delete) .

To do this in Spybot (advanced mode), go to Tools then System Startup.
Select the key to delete and click Delete.

! WARNING! Use the delete key when you are sure they are not vital to the smooth operation of Windows. When in doubt, leave it out or ask the

Do not get confused! Spybot is not an anti-virus!

You absolutely must have installed an antivirus and a firewall on your computer!
