Disable Ctfmon.exe at startup







The ctfmon.exe is a Windows generic process for managing entries alternative text input software such as voice recognition, electronic recognition, braille keyboards, or any alternative to the keyboard.

The ctfmon.exe process is useful only for taking different languages, or if one of the features mentioned above is used. Otherwise, this process is not necessary.

Ctfmon.exe file is responsible for monitoring technology "Modes User Input". It starts the component of the "Language Bar" (via the system tray), and starts every time Windows start, continuing to run in the background, an Office XP program was started or not.

Disable advanced text services


Below is a solution that will prevent the process Ctfmon.exe to start on every boot.
Open the Control Panel> Regional Options> Date, time and language.
Then click on Regional and Language Options.
Select Languages tab and click Details.
Then click on the Advanced tab.
Under System Configuration, check the box Stop advanced text services.
Click on Apply and validate with OK.

Having adopted the advanced text services, simply disable it (last time) the process Ctfmon.exe launch at startup.

Open the System Configuration Utility (Start> Run> Type in msconfig)
Click the Startup tab and Uncheck the startup item for ctfmon.
Apply and validate with OK.
You should restart your PC for same to be effective.





After reboot, a warning message will inform the modification of the startup. Simply check "Do not show this message", then validate with "OK."
Now, the process will start Ctfmon.exe do more. He will be absent from the process in Task Manager, and will, once and for all, disabled startup items.

Additional information


For Microsoft Office users, you should disable the "Modes User Input" from the Office Setup program.
Set the status "Not available" under "Alternative User Input".
