You may have experienced an intrusion and been victims of unpleasant feeling of violation of their privacy. With proper configuration of protection the risk of piracy should remain limited. I created users later when my children grew up but I always worked on my session in administrator mode, big mistake!
If create a user account on Windows XP Professional is easy, this is not the case with XP Home Family.
The Simple File Sharing is the only mode available in XP Home.
The advanced file sharing with XP Home cannot take place.
So if you've always worked in administrative sessions and one day you decide to create a user account, proceed as follows:
Under user account, reset all your options manually (Bookmarks Firefox, Internet Explorer Favorites, options and software programs ...).
Install a program that allows you to surf safely on the net with the Administrator account while remaining protected with a user account.
Download DropMyRights on Mybookmarks.com
Install it at the root of your system disk in a folder DropMyRights.
Then create a shortcut on your desktop and select DropMyRights.exe as target application, following the path of the application you want to run with reduced privileges.
An Example:
C: \ DropMyRights \ DropMyRights.exe "c: \ program files \ Mozilla Firefox \ firefox.exe"
Rename the Firefox (non-admin) and repeat the same operation for Internet Explorer.
Leave the value N installed by default.
