Before any configuration on your system, it is recommended that you check the status of MSN Messenger servers to determine if the problem does not come from there:

It may also be a problem with servers authentication for MSN Messenger.

Try to connect to the address below and click on "Launch Web Messenger": http://webmessenger.msn.com/?mkt/


If the page displays "Service Unavailable", this means that the problem comes from the Microsoft servers!

Solutions


1. Adjust the date correctly on the computer

Double-click on the clock
check that the date and time are well settled.

2. Verify that the identification data are entered correctly

Check that the username and password are entered correctly (upper or lower case), if they are not registered.
3. Change the password

http://memberservicesnet.passport.com/memberservice.srf and attempt a connection to MSN.

4. Check firewall settings

Firewall like ZoneAlarm, Norton Internet Security can restrict rights to access the Internet, especially if an upgrade was MSN conducted recently. Add MSN Messenger to the list of programs that have permission to access the Internet in this case.

5. Clear the cache of Internet Explorer

Clear the cache of Internet Explorer (IE) and delete cookies
Open Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu, then "Internet Options"
Click on "Delete Files"
Click on "Delete Cookies".

6. Reset the proxy settings in MSN Messenger
Click on Options in the tools menu.

Select the Connection tab and click on Advanced Settings.
Reset the fields with the correct values for your connection.
Click on OK to save the changes.

7. Check the Internet browser settings

Open Internet Explorer,
Click the Tools menu > Internet Options > Advanced, scroll down to the "Security" section and make sure "Check for server certificate revocation" is not selected.
Verify that 'Use SSL 2.0 and SSL 3.0 "are selected then click OK.

8 Input records DLL in the registry
Click on "Start", then "Run" and enter the following commands:

regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
regsvr32 initpki.dll


Click OK to accept the changes.
