Uninstall / Remove Windows Messenger
Windows Messenger is a small version apparent to MSN Messenger which can however create conflict when both installed. So its removal can only be beneficial for your pc.
How to remove
When installing XP, Windows Messenger is set as default in the taskbar.
By uninstalling Windows Messenger, it will surely free some space on your hard disk and RAM. Moreover Windows Messenger does not appear in the
add/Remove program.
To remove same, go to menu
Start and select
Run.
Enter the following command:
RunDll32 advpack.dll, LaunchINFSection% windir% \ INF \ msmsgs.inf, BLC.Remove
Validate by clicking on
OK to confirm deletion.
Remove Windows Messenger from Control Panel:
You can however force Windows to see MSN Messenger in the control panel
Add / Remove Programs through the following procedure:
Open the browser and position itself in
C: \ windows \ inf \
Sysoc.inf locate the file and edit it with Notepad or Wordpad
Look for the following line:
msmsgs = msgrocm.dll, OcEntry, msmsgs.inf, hide, 7 –
Delete the word hide to get the line below:
msmsgs = msgrocm.dll, OcEntry, msmsgs.inf,, 7Enregistrer changes
You will now see Windows Messenger in the Control Panel.
