Setting the Open option as default






In some cases or due to bad manipulation, you can have the first option (by default "Open")



the menu changed and is awarded the "Search".



Here is how to restore the "Open" option to default.

Method 1
  • Click on Start/ Run
  • Type in : regsvr32 / i shell32.dll
  • C;ick on OK
  • Check if this technique works. If this is not the case, proceed to method 2.




Be careful to respect the spaces

Now, repeat right-click the folder/file of your choice and see that everything is restored.

If this does not work, perform the second method.
Method 2
  • Click on Start> Run
  • Type in: regedit
  • The Registry Editor opens.
  • Expand the tree by clicking on the + by following this path: 

      HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell
  • Right click on SHELL and choose Edit
  • Assign the value as none
  • Close the registry. And verify if this technique works.
