It is recommended that you check the status of MSN before you made any changes on your systems:-
Go to:
http://messenger.msn.com/Status.aspx
If the page displays "Service Unavailable", this means that the problem comes from the Microsoft servers!
Then uncheck the box "
I use a proxy server."
Reconnect if necessary.
Make sure that Internet Explorer supports the standard 128-bit encryption:
Open Internet Explorer
Click on "
Help"
About Internet Explorer
If it is less than 128 bits, download and install Internet Explorer with a higher encryption level.
For identification, MSN Messenger needs encryption
In Internet Explorer:
Click on "Tools" >
Internet Options >> "
LAN Settings"
In the "
Connection":
Check the box "
automatically detect ..."
Click OK.
If that does not work, try:
Check if a proxy has not been activated:
MSN:
Click on Tools >Options >Login
Click on
"Advanced Settings"
Verify that the "
HTTP Proxy" - "Server" is empty.
If it contains an address, delete it (it was probably the address of a router).
The problem may be a version of MSN unofficial. If none of the works, uninstall the version of MSN installed and download the latest version
