Reinstalling Internet Explorer
When trying to reinstall Internet Explorer, below error message appears on your screen:
Setup has detected a newer version of Internet Explorer already installed on your computer.
or
Setup can not continue.
Solution
Use the System File Checker tool to analyze the files of the system.
Go to menu Start and select Run, then type the following command, and confirm by OK:
sfc / scannow
The system may be asked to provide the installation CD of Windows XP or Windows XP Service Pack.
Run a test to determine if the problem is resolved. If the problem is solved, do not proceed with further steps
Editing the registry
To edit the registry, you should run as Administrator.
Go to menu start and select Run.
Then type regedit to access the registry and press
OK.
Search the registry subkey appropriate, click the right button on the value
(REG_DWORD) IsInstalled, and then click Edit.
To reinstall only the Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP, use the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Active Setup \ Installed Components \ (89820200-ECBD-11cf-8B85-00AA005B4383)
Replace the value 1 by the value 0, and then click OK.
Close the Registry Editor, and then reinstall Internet Explorer 6 or Outlook Express 6.
You can also fix this error by making a system update.
