VIRUS ALERT !





Symptoms of infection:
  • Message: Virus Alert! next to the clock as shown below:
  • Unable to view Disk C in My Computer
  • Unable to open the registry
  • Unable to access Windows Task Manager

Solutions


Under Windows Vista, disable the User Account Control when disinfecting your computer system.
Also disable Teatimer under Spybot (see below) if same is installed on your computer as it will unable the modification of BHO

Launch Spybot and click on Mode and go to Advance Mode.

In the left, select Tools > Resident.

Uncheck the box Resident “Teatimer” and close Spybot.

Turn off / Reactivation System Restore


You should disable then re-enable System Restore to serve as the restore points can be infected.

Step 1


Download and install SmitFraudFix :

SmitFraudFix

Save the utility on your desktop.

Double-click on SmitFraudFix and choose option 1

Then press Enter. A report will be generated, save it on your desktop.

Option 2 (Deletion)


To restart in Safe Mode, Press the F8 key when starting your PC after viewing the BIOS and just before loading Windows. Then choose Safe Mode.

Double-click SmitFraudFix and select option 2 and then press Enter
Press (Y) Yes for the question.
A report will be generated, save it on your desktop.
Restart in normal mode

Post report on the forum Virus / Security specialists to tell you if you are still infected.

Second stage: MalwareByte's Anti-Malware

Download and install MalwareByte's Anti-Malware (MBAM).
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Make a complete scan with the software and remove any suspicious files.

Remove everything the software finds.

If you create a topic on the forum Virus / Security, send the report also MMFA.
