Microsoft Project is a software project management highly valued for managing large projects, to achieve the (Gantt chart or PERT network)

There is no free software as comprehensive as Microsoft Project. Nevertheless, free and open source software to meet the needs of most projects:

GANTT project: http://www.ganttproject.biz/
Written in Java and is a cross platform application ( Windows, MAX OS , linux)
Open Workbench:http://www.openworkbench.org/
Open source application (Workbench 1.1.6 available)

Note that they may make a Gantt chart with Excel file for download on the website of http://www.excel-downloads.com/ (French version)
