DTT and the DTT Adapter
Digital terrestrial TV: DTT will receive television in digital format rather than the analog signal from a normal TV broadcast station and provide a higher picture and sound quality.
The DTT adapter
The aim of DTT adapter is to convert the digital signal and to adapt it to your old equipment to receive DTT channels.
Prerequisites
- You must be part of the DTT network coverage
- To receive DTT, make sure that the place of receipt potential coverage.
- To do this, consult the DTT coverage map or do a DTT coverage test
- Having a compatible antenna
- For external antennas, the recent models (< 10 yrs) are compatible.
- For internal antennas, you need an indoor DTT antenna
The main criteria before choosing your adapter
HD (high definition) pictures and sound
The quality of picture and digital sound is identical with all normal adapter. To receive picture and sound in high definition, a type DTT HD adapter will be needed. They are not cheap, but enable you to watch HD channels. The models are equipped with an HDMI output.
Connectivity
If you want to record programs broadcasted via TNT on a VCR or DVD recorder, you must choose models with 2 ports (allowing you to connect the adapter to both your TV and the recording device).
USB port: A USB port allows you to view files on a key or an external storage drive. Playback formats supported are usually type jpeg (image) and MP3 (sound).
A model equipped with a card reader (such as MMC, SD, Compact ...) allows you to display photos from your digital camera.
To connect your adapter TNT with your home theater, make sure it has an audio output (coaxial type).
