A TV tuner card allows a computer how have the functionality of a TV set , receiving TNT programs and / or

radio.

Optional features: listen to radio, recording, portability.

Receiving any television channel on your computer, looking for somnething within your financial reach,portabilty, size,resolutions, here are some of the aspects you need to consider before buying your tuner card.

Technical Aspects



Type of reception/decoding


To receive both analogue television and digital television, and hybrid card should fit .
The hybrid cards are more expensive but offer digital quality facilitates your recordings and your viewings.

Some TV tuner cards can also receive FM radio and digital radio.

Size and portability


The smallest version is the PCMCIA tuner, ideal for use on laptop. A PCI format, are larger in size an will be ideal for decktop PC

Another altenative is the USB tuner(which is slowly repacing PCMIA formats)

Antenna and resolution


The quality of the antenna plays on the portability because it optimizes the reception depending on the area

The ability to record TV programs is quite interesting and useful. The recording quality and type of compression /recording also vary depending on the model (MPEG-1 and 2, DivX, directly on DVD). Some offer the possibility of acquiring video.

Compatibility


Be sure to be compatible with your hardware while most models are designed for maximum compatibility.
If your PC is not powerful enough, you will see the difference when recording images.
