FILE HOSTS OR LHOSTS: Failure to modify








When trying to delete the file host or Lmhosts under Windows Vista from admininstrator account, below error message appears on your screen:

Unable to create the file C: \ Windows \ System32 \ drivers \ etc \ hosts. Make sure the path and file name are correct.

Solution


Go to Menu Start/ All Programs/ Accessories.

Then right click on Notepad and select Run as Administrator.

Enter your password if any and click on Authorize if any.


Open the file hosts/ Lmhosts to modify same.

Then click on “Save’ under file menu.
