If you wish to switch off your computer rapidly, below is a tip how to proceed:

You can reconfigure the power button on the Start menu of Vista to completely to switch off the computer rapidly.
  • Go into the Control Panel>"Power Options"
  • Click on "Edit settings"
  • In the open window, click "Change advanced power settings"
  • Choose "Stop" in the list.


You can also switch on/off with the power button by maintaining/ press the power button which will however switch off directly.

Moreover this process is not recommended as this can bump your power supply. You can use this process only in urgent case.
