Formatting a Micro SD card to FAT 32

SD cards have proved to be very useful in storing data for mobile phone devices, camcorders and cameras. SD cards are available at various capacities ranging from a few MBs to a few GBs. Formatting a Micro SD card to FAT 32 can be done easily. SD cards can be formatted to a particular file system such as a FAT16 file system or a FAT 32 according to the requirements. SD cards with a capacity of over 2GB can be formatted to a FAT32 file system by connecting the micro SD card to a Windows-based computer through the card slot available. Formatting a Micro SD card to FAT 32 can be done by clicking on the SD card icon through the Windows operating system.

  • Under Windows and with a PC equipped with a card reader ...
  • Right click on SD card icon > Format > File type >FAT 32


Note that: if you possess a card with a capacity of less than 2 GB, leave it to FAT 16.
