Above all it should be noted that USB devices will not work on versions prior to Windows 98 SE (*) (Second Edition). Make that your PC is equiped with USB 2.0 ports (High Speed USB), otherwise, the device will work but at lower speed, that the same for the file transfer.

  • 1. In the Control Panel/System/Hardware, select View devices by connection
  • 2. Then select the little logo showing Hi-Speed USB mass storage device (or any other name related to the word USB)
  • 3. A drawing of a small hard drive will be displayed.
  • 4. Click on it.
  • 5. Windows will inform you that its searching and updating the driver previously installed with the CD provided with the USB device! If you lose the CD, it is possible to download the driver on the manufactures site. At last resort, you can try a generic driver.
  • 6. If this does not work, do the same with other USB port (usually 2 USB ports per PC).

Note that: it is imperative to install the driver before plugging the device for the first time. If ever that were to happen, go to device properties and uninstall the device, uninstall the driver, then reinstall everything as it should.
