Why Kioskea doesn't help with system and digital passwords

April 2013

Kioskea cannot help to recover lost passwords or digital identification keys due to security reasons. First of all, it is very difficult to prove that such a request is a legitimate password recovery request and ascertain that the user has really lost the password, rather than merely posing as someone else in order to hack into a system. Even if the user can prove their identity, Kioskea will refrain to answer the query as the thread would remain visible in the forum. It might be used for malicious purposes such as piracy and hacking, both of which are illegal activities. As this forum does not endorse such activities, Kioskea cannot help to recover lost passwords.

Kioskea does not help to recover lost passwords

Kioskea members cannot help you to recover a password with any operating system including Windows, Mac, Linux or other.
The same rule applies to digital codes or other systems which require password identification.

Note: Digital codes include bios passwords. If you have purchased a second-hand laptop, we suggest that you look in the manufacturer's ownership transfer program or reset your password http://en.kioskea.net/faq/1192-lost-password-resetting-the-bios)

The main reason is that you are not able to prove that your request is legitimate, even if it is.
In addition, even when the issue is resolved the thread remains visible on the forum. It can be found with a search engine and used again by a malicious person for the purposes of hacking or other serious computer crimes.

The only solution we can offer is to be careful, note down your password and keep it in a safe place until you can remember it.

What is pirating or hacking a password?

Pirating or hacking a password is aiming to enter a system or identify oneself in a system without the authentic authorised identification, in order to obtain restricted information or to perform other actions to the prejudice of the system's security.

How do I know if I am about to commit an act of piracy or hacking?

You may be totally unaware that the action which you are attempting is illegal. Should you attempt to enter a system without proper and legal identification, it is a piracy act. According to the nature of the question which you will ask, Kioskea members will quickly call you to order and suggest that you read this article.

Are there any risks in pirating or hacking a password?

Yes, there are many risks :
  • 1 - There are legal consequences. Most countries have adopted strict legislation against cybernetic piracy and hacking, with severe penalties. Penal codes vary from one country to another. Most prescribe fines, imprisonment and in some instances even corporal punishment.
  • 2 - The system owner may seek reprisal which may be of a physical, moral or technical nature.
    • You may be confronted with a more technically-savvy person, and your malicious action may be turned against you.
  • 3 - You may be forbidden to exercise your profession in a specific domain for many years.
