How to clear web browser cache: Chrome, Firefox, on Safari

To avoid the saturation of your web browser's cache, you should clean it on a regular basis. This is a useful step to prevent websites tracking your activity, for example if you are looking to book a flight, repeatedly going onto the same website can lead to increased prices, as they know you are looking at flights. In this article we will explain how you can clean your web browsers cache and remove cookies.

Google Chrome

If your browser is Chrome / Windows or Mac:

  • First, open Chrome browser.
  • In the top right, select More
  • Click More tools > Clear browsing data.
  • You can then select the time range for this. To delete everything, select All time.
  • Then check the boxes next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files". 
  • Finally, select, Clear Data.

An alternate method:

  • Go to this URL chrome://settings/clearBrowserData > Clear browsing data.

Mozilla SeaMonkey

Mozilla SeaMonkey:

  • Go to the Edit menu > Preferences > Advanced >Cache.
  • Click on the Empty Cache button and validate.

Mozilla Firefox

Mozilla Firefox:

  • Go to: Tools > Clear Recent History.
  • Select the items you want to delete and validate.

Internet Explorer

  • Go to Tools > Internet Options > General tab.
  • Click on the Delete button (Browsing history section).
  • Select the items you want to delete and validate.

Opera

  • Click on the Opera button.
  • Go to Settings > Privacy & security.
  • Click on the Clear Browsing data button.
  • Check Empty the cache and select the time period for which you want to clear your data.

Safari

  • First you will need to display the Develop menu:
    • Click on the Safari button > Preferences > Advanced tab.
    • Check Show Develop menu in menu bar.
  • Click on the Develop menu > Empty cache.

Using CCleaner

  • CCleaner allows you to empty the cache of your various web browsers (IE, Opera, Firefox ...) via a single interface.
