Problems connecting to Facebook

May 2015

It is not uncommon for users to fail to connect to social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and Myspace - despite their computers running with absolute and uninterrupted internet connections. This problem can plague people using computers run by any given operating system - from Windows Vista to Windows XP. Usually the sites simply refuse to load, even from a fresh log-in bar. Restarting the computer often works, or even disconnecting the internet and then reconnecting. But if this fails to help keep a steady connection to the particular website (say Facebook), then a calculated change of the DNS server might just do the trick.

Issue

Although our internet has been working ok, (we have Vista), we have been totally unable to connect to either Facebook or Myspace all weekend at any time of day or night. We have tried all the usual computer restarts etc, but none of the Facebook sites load, including the login page from Google.
Any ideas as to why this could be happening or what we could do to solve the problem?

Solution

I've been having the same problem and I solved it by changing the DNS servers to:
208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220.
I found these on the following website:
