Call of Duty Modern warfare - Installing maps packs

Call of Duty 4 or COD 4 is a famous video game that enjoys immense popularity. To take the gaming experience of COD 4 to a new level, gamers can insert customized maps in the game. Installation of new maps is possible if you follow certain steps. The latest version of the patch should be installed on Call of Duty 4. Patch version 1.4 or a higher one is needed. To install the new map, a directory with downloaded files should be created in the installation directory of the game. In the mod directory, files with the extension .iwd files must be copied. To load maps, the game has to launched in multiplayer mode and then the installed Warfare mod should be enabled. With the requisite commands, COD 4 will install the new maps.

Patching the game with the latest version

• First of all, it is necessary to install the latest patch version:

Installing the new map

• If you download a .zip or .rar file, extract it
• Then you must create a directory named "usermaps" at the root of the installation directory of the game
  • Default: C:\Program files\activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\usermaps\
• In this directory, copy all the files downloaded, except the .iwd files
• These files with the .iwd extension must be copied into the mods directory
  • Default: C:\Program files\activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\Mods\ModWarfare\

Launching the game

The maps are not included in the list of maps at the start of the game

• Start the game in multi-player mode, and enable the installed Warfare mod
• Launch mod, choose the equipment and validate
• Once in the game, open the console and then type the command:

  • /map name-of-map

• Then the game will load the custom map
