Error message - Steam.exe (main exception) to run steam you must first connect to the internet

Issue

I have installed Steam on my PC and when I want to launch it, the following error message is being displayed:
  • Steam.exe (main exception) to run steam you must first connect to the internet.

Solution

  • The easiest solution is to disable the Windows firewall or/and your antivirus preventing the update of Steam.
  • You can also create an exception for "Steam.exe" For your firewall/antivirus.
  • Once done, simply delete the ClientRegistry.blob file located C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam.
  • Launch Steam.
