Outlook Saving Address Book (WAB file)

May 2013

From Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express, you can save the address book. The saved address book can be used as a backup and even without the internet in offline mode, you can access the address list. WAB is the file extension name of the Microsoft Outlook address book. When this extension is identified in the hard disk either through a search or by using the registry, copying and pasting the same into another record will complete the process. Exporting the address book can also be done through the File Export option in Microsoft Outlook.

Outlook Saving Address Book (WAB file)

You can create a backup of your address book in one of two ways.

Method 1

You can run a search for the address book, which is saved in .wab format. Either search for all files with the .wab extension on your computer or use the registry which can be found here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WAB\WAB4\Wab File Name

Then go to: Start > Run > regedit. Once you have located the file, copy and paste it into another record to complete the backup.

Method 2

The second method is to open Microsoft Outlook (or Outlook Express), click on the address book (or simultaneously press Ctrl + Shift + B) and then go to File > Export > Address Book (WAB)
