Disable access time - Windows 7




For each file, Windows 7 records the date of last access of all files you use, even if no changes are made. To speed up disk access on your system, you can disable this mechanism.
  • Click Start then All Programs then Accessories.
  • Click the right mouse button on the shortcut Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator of the menu that appears.
  • Enter the command fsutil disablelastaccess a behavior set. Press Enter

  • Close the window and restart your computer. The recording of last access to all files is disabled. Instead, the last modified date will be displayed.
