The VIA AC'97 sound driver is for all motherboards having a VIA chipset. Installing it will optimize system performance and ensure compatibility with latest softwares.

Compatible for most Microsoft OS including Vista:

VIA AC97 codec incorporated into VT8231 South Bridge ( VT8231 ).
VIA AC97 codec incorporated into VT82C686A/B South Bridges ( VT82C686A VT82C686B ).
VIA AC97 codecs incorporated into VT8233, VT8233A, VT8233C, VT8235 and VT8237/R South Bridges ( VT8237 VT8235 VT8233/A/C *VT8235CE VT8233/VT8233A/VT8233B/VT8235/VT8237 VT1612A ).

I have a PCchips m811lu with VIA VT1612A sound on it. These Drivers worked for it with windows 7. You have to uninstall the old drivers because windows will say that it has the best drivers installed even though they do not work. Uninstall the old drivers along with the device, scan for hardware changes (which should see the sound card again) and then do a scan for drivers again but have it directly go to the folder with these drivers in it. Then it should find the good ones and you will have sound again. Thanks to whoever put these together.
