VLC media player is a multimedia player which can read numerous audio and video formats (MPEG 1, MPEG 2, MPEG 4, DivX, mp3, ogg), as well as DVD or VCD and diverse streaming protocols.
It can also be used as unicast or multicast streaming server on a broadband network.
Its main features in comparison with other readers is its capability to read the majority of videos without installing supplementary codecs.
