ctfmon.exe (whose full name is Alternative User Input Services) is a Windows NT/2000/XP generic process used for managing alternative methods of text input, such as speech recognition software, handwriting recognition software, braille keyboards, or any other alternative to keyboards.

The process ctfmon is not in any way a virus, a worm, a Trojan horse, spyware, or adware.
