Introduction to network tools

Computer networks are complex by their nature, as administrating them requires skills in a large number of fields. What's more, the proliferation of protocols, operating systems, and hardware devices make managing them complicated.

For this reason, most operating systems offer rudimentary network administration tools which can be used for carrying out a few essential tests whenever a new machine joins the network or after the entire network has gone down, in order to determine potential trouble spots.
