XFree86 is a graphical interface under Linux (XWindow is the interface of the UNIX stations). To configure XFree86, just type "XF86Setup" in the command line; this entry is case-sensitive. A screen appears. You are prompted to enter information, which allows you to adjust the display. A graphical window is shown where you will find tabs to configure all significant elements of your computer.
First, the mouse must be configured, which most of the time is a Microsoft type mouse (or PS/2, in case it is connected to a special port), on the port COM1 (or COM2).
Generally, the keyboard need not be modified. On the other hand, please make sure to properly set the parameters of the video card since they directly affect the display and may cause a very unstable display in the case of any error (screen shaky, for example).
Once all the parameters have been entered, quit the configuration program and return to the command line under the console.
