Remote attacks and intrusions

More and more people spend their time connecting to other people's computers via the Internet. Some people do it out of pleasure, but most of the time the people using this type of technique are looking to introduce viruses, steal your passwords to connect to the Internet using your name, or achieve other purposes.

A remote attack is an attack against a machine by a person who does not have rights on that machine. A remote machine is "any machine other than one's own that can be reached thanks to a protocol through a network".

Hackers are people who are specialized in operating systems. They continuously look to broaden and share their knowledge. Their goal is not to cause harm but rather to know to improve.

Crashers on the other hand maliciously violate remote systems. They destroy data, keep services from functioning, etc.
